Sample Collection, Analysis and Reporting

TRINITY conducted drinking water sampling and analysis for schools and child/youth centers at five United States Marine Corps (USMC) Installation East facilities. Sampling was done to comply with USMC policy requiring installations to test for lead in drinking water at facilities used primarily by children. Procedures outlined in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) publication, 3Ts for Reducing Lead in Drinking Water in Schools: Revised Technical Guidance, October 2006, and, 3Ts for Reducing Lead in Drinking Water from Child Care Facilities: Revised Technical Guidance, December 2005 were followed. Drinking water was tested at facilities at MCLB Albany, MCAS Beaufort, MCRD Parris Island, MCAS Cherry Point, and MCB Quantico.

TRINITY managed resources and subcontractors, and scheduled/performed sampling at each location. Installation stakeholders were identified, and on-site meetings were held at each facility with Installation representatives from Environmental Affairs, Engineering, Security, DoDEA, PAO, Safety and Facility Maintenance. Site reconnaissance was performed to ground truth each sample point for creation of facility maps. Over 1,800 samples were collected and analyzed for lead content from discharge points within each facility. Water quality results were tabulated and analyzed, and letters to parents detailing test rationale and results were developed alongside Marine Corps Public Affairs.
TRINITY provided the following:

  • Work Plan
  • Collected Approximately 1,000 Drinking Water Samples (to date)
  • Provided Data Management and Analysis
  • Final Report
